Introduction

The title of this blog Logos Wrench came about as my desire to include God ( or more specifically Christ) into my working life. So Logos (God) and Wrench (I'm a mechanic) is the basis for the title. The idea that one should integrate the life of the Spirit into every aspect of life including our occupations may, of course seem obvious to many Christians and rightly so. But how many of us actually do it? What is involved in the practical sense? Instead of whistling while we work do we pray? Or is it about trying to witness to co-workers? Or just doing the best job we can do? Or is it all of the above? If it is all of the above, how is it done?

I think perhaps most if not all Christians have, from time to time felt this tension. The theory (how I am supposed to be, how a Christian life ought to look), and the reality of how I actually am, and the demands of my job either explicitly or implicitly often seems to collide with the way a Christian life ought to be lived. What I mean by this of course is not that the Christian life is somehow anti-reality but rather the way the world chooses to frame reality is so anti-Christian. Christians know from reading their Bible that we are to be in but not of the world and this is exactly the place where the struggles and tensions enter.
